Eagles down Archers
Posted in news by admin at 9:53 pm |

In his fifth and final season for Ateneo, Chris Tiu delivered the goods as Ateneo scored a 79-73 win over their rivals the De La Salle Green Archers. Tiu scored 26 points making 17 of his 19 foul shots.

An estimated crowd of 22,000 spectators watched yesterday’s ball game. Among these were a star studded list that include boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, NBA star Gilbert Arenas, US Ambassador Kristie Kenney and business tycoons Henry Sy and Manny Pangilinan, Senator Mar Roxas and Dick Gordon. Manny Pacquiao’s entrance made the gap between the first game to last for an hour. This prompted the crowd to get bored and cheer “game na” so that game could start immediately. The game ended past 7 pm.

In the first game, Season 71 host beat NU 86-72. UP drew a career-high performance from Martin Reyes as it stunned National U, 86-72, in its first game following a 0-14 campaign last year.
