Alaska - Magnolia Trade
Posted in news, star by admin at 3:44 pm |

It was all over the news. I think this is the biggest trade for this for pre-conference phase of the Smart fiesta cup. The Alaska Aces traded Mike Cortez and Ken Bono to Magnolia’s Larry Fonacier and LA Tenorio. It seems that both teams will defintely benefit from the trade since the players invlolved are all equally good in their respective positions. Although Bono is the only rookie in the said trade, he seems to be a promising star for the Beverage Masters. It would be remembered that Bono won the UAAP MVP plum in 2006.

Collegiate Basketball Updates

Barely four months before the collegiate basketball season, much is already being discussed about this and about that. Whatever it is, the Ateneo - La Salle match is surely a matter not to be missed. The basketball game on Easter Sunday Sunday, featuring the current PBA players from both universities, will definitely keep the rivalry alive. Game starts at 4 pm at the Araneta Coliseum and televised on Studio 23.

Meanwhile, FilOil Flying V holds another pre-season tournament this summer. The tourney kicks off on April 13, 2008 at The Arena. Of the 16 teams vying for the title, it seems that the PCU Dolphins is likely to miss the competition. The DLSU Green Archers won the title last year over NCAA champs SBC Red Lions.

Kish Co quits

On a semi related note, i feel regretful for DLSU green archer Kish CO’s decision to leave basketball in line with Season ‘71. Reports have it that he’s about to graduate within this year and wouldn’t want that important event to be delayed. Sayang, he has gained a lot of following last season. And to say that Kish is mabait is an understatement. In case he changes his mind, I’m sure the team still has a position for him to fill.
