Nike My Game DVD- My personal review

Posted by admin in news, star

I wasn’t able to watch the Nike My Game special screening in my school last year since I was busy doing my thesis. Thanks to Nike Philippines, I have my own DVD now. I have no idea how the shoe maker company got into the selection process of choosing who’ll star in the documentary. But the featured basketball players all shared a similar story. They all played in the streets and eventually made it big in their own respective careers. There were sport journalists and basketball coaches that were there to add more color to the film, in a sense that “who else would be the best to comment on the basketball players but the expert themselves”. I personally like the scenes by which the featured players go back to where they came from, specially that of Arwind Santos who even showed his bedroom in Pampanga. Another plus for me was when James was speaking his native language. However, I thought, shouldn’t Mac Cardona be included in the video as well since everyone knows where he came from? Also, I think that Marcy Arellano would be a very good inclusion as well. I attempted to ask for permission to post the video on my site but they recomment I do not for legal reasons. SOrry guys, maybe you can request for a DVD from Nike people themselves.

A PBA cager’s bad taste

Posted by admin in news, star

This famous PBA star has recently broken up with his girlfriend. It was quite controversial that a lot of people knew about their break up. Nowadays, he is said to be dating or if we assume it right, he has a new girlfriend who happens to be not a pure Filipina. But it is a testament that this basketball player seem to like girls that are “natikman” na by other players. Why is this? His ex was a former girlfriend of another player. Secondly, his current flame had a one night stand with another growling PBA cager. Why do I know? I was there.

The PBL Finals- Hapee wins Game 1

Happee survived Game 1 against Harbour sans UAAP MVP Jervy Cruz.  After trailing by at least 18 points, the Complete Protectors didn’t give up and manage to take the lead in with 21 seconds remaining in the game.

During halftime, Gabe Norwood was given two awards. The Fan Favorite award and Fantastic Freshman award. Injured Dylan Ababou got the True Gentleman award on the other hand.

 Coke battles Red Bull

The Tigers will be playing tonight with a new import who replaced Gee Gervin. Donald Copeland  was the initial choice of the Coke Management but wasn’t able to come due to other obligations. The Tigers play after two consecutive losses last week while Red Bull  lost against Alaska on May 18. Game starts at 4:50 pm in Ynares Center. Welcoat and Sta. Lucia play the 2nd game.

The kindness that is Big J

Posted by admin in news, star

 by Contributing writer

If you watch the PBA that much, it’s impossible that you wouldn’t know about Aling Luming, Coach Robert Jaworski’s fan since he emerged in the basketball scene. As we all know, she passed away last year. It’s her first death anniversary next month.

Before Aling Luming left us, she was confined in another clinic and laterd in a much bigger hospital, the USTH. In both instances, the former senator closely monitored how Aling Luming was. During the time that Aling Luming has to be brought to the morgue, it wont be easy for her to be released because there were unpaid hospital bills. The Big J was there to the rescue. It was then that I knew that he already shouldered the bills from the previous clinic. But all these, Jawo never mentioned to anyone.

When Aling Luming’s body was brought to Araneta Ave., Jawo still monitored how everything’s going. It’s fun how he checked on Aling Luming’s make up. Anyway, during the first night, it wasn’t known yet by the PBA people that Aling Luming passed away, so naturally, there were not much visitors yet. He sent his driver all the way from Corinthian Gardens to send money for flowers. Then he visited I think on the 2nd or 3rd day. His son Dodot came on the day I was there too.

On the day Aling Luming was to be brought to her final resting place, Jawo was still present. Again there were some problems on her release because of some billing matters. Good thing he was there.

I wouldn’t want to call it simple matter, but for me, it’s a big deal that there’s a BIG J who helps someone whom he considered as his number 1 fan. It’s not the finance department that made me bilib in Jawo’s kindness but it’s the thought. Too bad he didn’t get re-elected when he ran for the polls.

Blast from the not so distant past-Miguel Noble

Posted by admin in photos, star

First time I saw him, he was playing for the PBL, with Ateneo-Pioneer. Then soon after a couple of amateur conferences, he went pro. Then later, he’s back to New York. I didn’t actually notice that he’s gone for real until I checked my friendster. He’s now working as an occupational therapist in the great state of NY.
